PHILIPPINES - DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT TO SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH JAPAN, MORE THAN 100,000 JOBS SET TO BE AVAILABLE

More than 100,000 jobs for Filipinos are set to be available in Japan after the Filipino Department of Labour and Employment announced it would sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Japan in November.

Department Undersecretary Bernard Olalia said the new agreement would use a new deployment framework, allowing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be employed in private Japanese firms.

"Last week, we spoke with the Ministry of Health and Labor and the Ministry of Justice in Japan," Olalia said. "They are opening their markets for our skilled and semi-skilled workers.

According to Rappler.com, possible jobs to be opened in Japan are for nurses, engineers, and architects. However, direct hiring would still be prohibited under the new agreement as OFWs would still have to go through private recruitment firms and pass through the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. 

菲律宾劳工和就业部宣布将于11月份与日本签署谅解备忘录。此协议签订后，在日本的菲律宾人将得到超过10万个工作机会。

新闻部副部长Bernard Olalia表示，新协议将采用新的部署框架，此协议中提到允许海外菲律宾工人（OFWs）在私人日本公司工作。

Olalia 提到，"上周，我们与日本卫生部、劳工部及司法部进行了交谈，他们正在为我们的技术和半技术工人开放市场做准备。

据Rappler.com介绍，在日本为海外菲律宾人开设的工作岗位可能是护士，工程师和建筑师。但在新协议下仍然禁止日本公司直接招聘菲律宾人，并且需要通过直属菲律宾海外就业管理局管理的私人招聘公司招聘。
