Ranking: HongKong now Asia Pacific's most expensive city for expats

Hong Kongtops the list as the most expensive city in Asia Pacific for expatriates toreside, according to a cost of living survey conducted by consultancy firm ECAInternational.

The city isalso the second most expensive city globally - behind Luanda in Angola - and its ranking on the list has steadily increased in the last 7years.

"HongKong has continued to get more expensive for expatriates. Over the past fewyears, the HK dollar has appreciated against most major currencies, owing toits peg to the US dollar, which has pushed up the price of goods and servicesrelative to those in locations whose currencies have weakened against thegreenback," said Lee Quane, ECA International's regional director forAsia, said in a release accompanying the ranking.
