PHILIPPINES - ONLINE HIRING UP 7% IN APRIL

The Monster Employment Index for the Philippines showed that online hiring in April was up 7% compared to the same time in the previous year.

The index is a monthly gauge of online job hiring activity by Monster.com, which records the industries and occupations that show the highest and lowest growth.

Online hiring was up in the retail sector by 33%, meanwhile the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry registered a 27% increase in online hiring. The engineering sector and education sectors showed declines of 6% and 4%, respectively, year-on-year.

"A strong domestic demand, regional trade recovery and a labour intensive economy has kept the country's labor market upbeat, in line with the Index," Monster.com Managing Director for APAC and Middle East Sanjay Modi said.
