The bank holiday is here: a boon for employees but a bane for someemployers.

Staff do want more time off. A survey last year by londonoffices.comfound that 42% of the 1,000 employees surveyed confessed to calling in sickinstead of taking annual leave following a long weekend break. 31% booked daysnext to bank holidays before their colleagues to eek out their holidayallowances.

Extra bank holidays would allow workers to spend more time withtheir family. In fact, the much-publicised 2017 Modern Family Index releasedearlier this year found that 48% of younger fathers would take a pay cut toachieve a better work-life balance.
